Numbers - Prior Knowledge

Numbers and arithmetic are an important constituent of math. The arithmetic operations enable one to perform any mathematical calculations. This branch of math is imperative for the understanding of any future, higher level of math.

 

A strong foundation in numbers is necessary for the IB program. While topics based solely on this concept are fewer in number, the knowledge of numbers, working with them, performing different operations, rounding, estimating, determining the bounds, and so on are required in every subsequent topic. Any misunderstanding in the basic foundation will affect the later concepts and expected answers.

 

As the IB is a rigorous program with a heavy focus on calculations, a strong foundation in arithmetic and numbers will provide a smooth transition for any learner. The Pre-IB Numbers course consists of several topics that serve as prerequisites for the harder challenges the learners must face in the IB Diploma Program.

 

The course consists of easy to challenging levels in several topics such as Approximation, Estimation, Sets, Percentages, Surds, and so on, to familiarize students with the main concepts associated with these topics. The entire course consists of short video tutorials and practice quizzes that help learners navigate through the content in a bite-size and orderly manner.

 

The course will help students learn the basic concepts required for the IBDP and revise them. With many learners coming from different educational backgrounds, this course will help them understand the expectations and rigour of the IB program and help them better prepare themselves in advance for the program.
