Statistics & Probability - Prior Knowledge

Statistics and Probability are important math constituents that help in describing data and help in making predictions. Probability is important as it helps in making estimated guesses about the likeliness of an event. Combining both is useful in understanding the current situation and making predictions using that knowledge.

 

The IB has a heavy emphasis on Statistics and Probability, with the focus being more on the AI than the AA syllabus. As the IB is a rigorous program, a strong foundation will provide a smooth transition for any learner. The Pre-IB Statistics and Probability course consists of several topics that are prerequisites for the harder challenges the learners must face in the IB Diploma Program.

 

The course consists of easy to challenging levels in several topics such as Statistical Graphs, Data reading, One Variable Statistics, Calculating Mean, Median, Mode for Discrete and Grouped Data, Basic Probability, Probability in Dependent and Independent events, and so on. The entire course consists of short video tutorials and practice quizzes that help learners navigate through the content in a bite-size and orderly manner.

 

The course will help students learn the basic concepts required for the IBDP and revise them. With many learners coming from different educational backgrounds, this course will help them understand the expectations and rigour of the IB program and help them better prepare themselves in advance for the program.
